In Bitzer's article Rhetorical Situation he states that rhetoric is a method of changing reality through discourse. This is true since, discourse, through actions and thoughts changes. Later in the article Bitzer goes on to define rhetorical situation as a complex of persons, events, objects, and relations. He says rhetoric can be situational meaning that rhetorical discourse comes into existence either in response to a question or as the answer to a problem. To me this means that the authors are using situation to make what is said more appealing to readers. Exigence as defined by Bitzer is an imperfection marked by urgency, a defect, or a thing that is something other than it should be. Overall Bitzer does a great job of explaining rhetoric and how it can be situational.

The other night I watched the movie Old Yeller. I watched this movie on my computer with my girlfriend in my dorm. The mode of this movie is both visual and audial and the media is digital. This movie is focused on family values and the loving bond that can form between a family and their dog. This movie is about a runaway dog that finds a family out in Texas and at first causes trouble for the family but forms an instant bond with the youngest son. After a run in with a baby bear and its mother, the entire family falls for the dog when the dog saves the youngest son from the bear.
